Dr. Jakobsen, a Southern California native, moved to Chicago in 1994 to finish his undergraduate studies, focusing on Neuropsychology, at Knox College. Upon graduation, he spent three years doing HIV research at Rush Medical Center before applying to dental school. In 2004, Dr. Jakobsen received his Doctorate of Dental Surgery from the University of Illinois at Chicago. From there, he moved to the valley. When asked what he likes most about dentistry, he replied, Dentistry is one of the few specialties left in health care where the provider still has time to talk with and get to know his patients. What I like most is the feeling I get when I've been able to comfort and talk a patient through a procedure that they were fearful of. A dental chair can be a very unnerving place for many people. I've found that communicating with my patients throughout a procedure builds a trust and confidence that eliminates any previous fears they've had of the dentist's office.
I love this office but I'm a bit upset at leaving a message to set an appointment and don't receive a call back...i left 2 messages last week for denture adjustments as I can't wear my bottoms and I didn't get a call back...i know they are extremely busy and I give them a high rating because usually the call back time is 24 hours...im hoping they check their machine more often. Other then that I would still recommend this office 100%....
Don't let the area/location fool you. I've been going to this dentist for almost 2 years. Dr. Jakobsen is very pleasant and knowledgeable. The dental hygienist, receptionist and business office lady are all polite. They all welcome me with a smile and hello. I've never had any issues from the time I started going here. They're very prompt with calls/appointments. I recommend this place to anyone that would like work done on their teeth. They'll definitely get the job done. However, I will say that the place needs a few updates, but these are minor things that can be updated and don't make-or-break this place. The sheer manners and friendliness of the staff can't be taught. Solid 4/5!
